Black Panther is a 2018 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay by him and Joe Robert Cole, and stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa / Black Panther, alongside Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Daniel Kaluuya as W'Kabi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Sterling K. Brown as N'Jobu and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue. In Black Panther, T'Challa returns home as king of Wakanda but finds his sovereignty challenged by a long-time adversary in a conflict that has global consequences. The film itself comes out on the 12th February 2018 (United Kingdom) and 16th in America. The film has received ratings of 7.5/10 IMDb, 97% Rotten Tomatoes and 87% Metacritic. In addition, the film has received the utmost praise from reviews stated by those who have a following online. For example, as said from the Rotten Tomatoes site itself it states, 'Critics Consensus: Black Panther elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories -- and introducing some of its most fully realized characters.' The film overall had a production budget of $200 million which leads us to believe it was mainly spent on the casting. Chadwick Boseman - T'Challa / Black Panther has a worth of $5 Million, Michael B. Jordan - Erik Killmonger has a worth of $8 Million, Lupita Nyong'o – Nakia has a worth of $75 Million, Danai Gurira – Okoye has a worth of $500 Thousand, Martin Freeman - Everett K. Ross has a worth of $15 Million, Daniel Kaluuya - W'Kabi has a worth of $1 Million, Winston Duke - M'Baku has a worth of $800 Thousand and Sterling K. Brown - N'Jobu has a worth of $4 Million.
Chadwick Boseman, known for his portrayals of R&B singer James Brown in the 2014 film Get On Up and as baseball player Jackie Robinson in the movie 42, is new to the Marvel universe as one of the first black superheroes to be a part of the Marvel big screen spotlight. This change from the previous Marvel films may have enhanced the attention draw to the film due to that key feature. This has also stirred up some hate from viewers yet been cancelled out by the love for the movie as it was an overall success.
To promote the upcoming Marvel instalment, they promoted the film from the following: A teaser poster released ahead of the first teaser trailer, which premiered during Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals, a promotion panel at San Diego Comic Con, sneak peek trailers and Frederick Joseph, a marketing consultant from New York City, created the #BlackPantherChallenge with the aim of raising $10,000 through a GoFundMe page to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem. Within days, he had surpassed the goal, raising more than $40,000. The hashtag took off on social media. This captured their main teen audience as social media is the base of all of our communication. In addition, they partnered with Lego to create sets based off the film, soft toys such as a mini black panther soft toy and Black Panther limited edition items such as shoes, hats and other pieces of clothing. The Walt Disney Company has the net worth of $92 Billion whereas it's Marvel Entertainment, as of August 31st, 2009, is worth $4.24 Billion. Marvel Entertainement own subsidiaries such as Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, Toy Biz, Marvel Animation and Marvel Television. Marvel have also released 'exclusive' interviews from the main cast talking about the film overall, the characters individually and the impact of the movie compared to previous films from the Marvel Comic Universe. It's overall success of bringing hype to their audiences have resulted in cinemas across the UK to become crowed with those who can't wait to see, what might be, the film of the year.
